Overseas Journeys
Exploring new culturesDuring the holiday break, two groups of students and staff set off on incredible learning journeys, departing for the China Immersion Tour and the Japan Study Tour.
From meeting pandas at the Chengdu Panda Research Base to mastering the art of Sichuan cooking at the Sichuan Cuisine Museum, the China tour adventure was action packed with culture and fun.
The group also connected with fellow students at a local school and travelled to Xi’an on a high speed train to explore the rich history of China’s ancient capital.
Meanwhile, on tour in Japan, students went sightseeing in Kyoto, visiting KinKakuji (Golden Pavilion) and the Arashayama district. They also visited Nijo Castle and took part in a tote dying workshop.
While in Osaka, they enjoyed street food, attended a maiko (geisha) performance, made sushi and enjoyed karaoke.
These study tours offer countless opportunities for our students to explore new cultures, deepen their understanding of history, and experience life in two of the world’s most fascinating countries, while also practising Mandarin and Japanese languages.
