Prep (2025) Transition Mornings
Beginning school life is an exciting time for boys and their families and is also an important time of change in your son’s (and your) life.
BGS offers transition mornings to give our future boys an opportunity to meet their class teachers and other Prep boys, and to become familiar with the routines and expectations of the classroom program.
Transition mornings also help the boys establish some firm ideas about life in primary school and will assist you in family discussions about starting ‘big school’.

On Thursday 31 October, while the boys attend the Day 3 Transition morning, all parents of Prep students are invited to attend a presentation with Peter Tellefson, Deputy Headmaster, Head of Junior School for an update on the Junior School and administration requirements.
Prep Information Evening: Thursday 7 November
An information evening will take place in the Prep Classrooms on Thursday 7 November at 7.00pm. The information evening provides parents with an opportunity to meet the Prep Homeroom teachers and the Director of Teaching and Learning, Rebecca Taylor. This presentation will inform parents about current classroom practices in relation to the boys’ transition into the Prep year at BGS.
Term 1 – Prep commences Thursday 30 January 2025
The first day of school in 2025 will be Thursday 30 January. Boys will attend school from 8.30am to 1.00pm on their first week (Thur/Fri). In week 2 and week 3, students will be required to attend school for four days a week, with normal school hours being 8.30am to 3.20pm. Boys will not be required to attend a normal school day on Wednesday for the first two weeks of term. All students will be required to attend an on-site session one-on-one with their teacher for 30 minutes on either Wednesday 5 February or Wednesday 12 February. These times will be arranged at a later date in Term 4. Prep students start a full school week on the week beginning Monday 17 February 2025.
Out of School Hours Care will be available for the first week of school commencing on Thursday 30 January from 1.00pm and also for the full day on Wednesdays during the first two weeks of February.

Boys who have a sibling at BGS or a family association with the school will be allocated the same House to continue the family tradition, please complete the attached form to assist with House allocation.
borderCelebrating Sons and Grandsons of Old Boys
When Old Boys enrol their sons at BGS, the School also takes much pleasure in celebrating this multi-generational link. To assist us, we ask parents of our multi-generational BGS boys to complete the ‘BGS Generations form’ so that the School can acknowledge our current second-, third- and fourth-generation BGS boys. If you have already completed this form, there is no need to complete it again.
