The Creativity and Design Scholarship

Through the extreme generosity of an Old Boy, along with his wife, a Creativity Scholarship has been established at Brighton Grammar School. 

Our Centre for Science, Creativity and Entrepreneurship opens in 2025 and this scholarship also serves as a wonderful opportunity to join our community at a very exciting time in the School’s history.

Are you eligible to apply?

Applicants for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • A boy currently in Year 8 or above (in 2024) to enter BGS in Year 9 or above (in 2025 or 2026)
  • A boy without the financial means to attend the School.

Scholarships may only be awarded to students who are permanent residents or citizens of Australia.
This scholarship is not open to boys who are currently attending the School.

Criteria

The recipient will be a boy of fine character who can demonstrate his willingness to embrace the spirit and culture of BGS, and who will benefit from a BGS education, taking into account:

  • Interview
  • School reports
  • A written piece of work outlining the applicant’s creative and design pursuits to date and how they perceive a Brighton Grammar School education will assist them to further their talents
  • A PDF folio of examples that showcase their talents in the Creative Arts and Design including interests in: Product Design, Visual Communication, Art, Digital Technology and Entrepreneurial endeavours
  • Means (the scholarship is means-tested, with parents’ financial disclosure being required at shortlist stage).

Value

This scholarship is at the discretion of the Headmaster. The Creativity and Design Scholarship usually does not cover:

  • The cost of books, stationery or uniforms
  • Consolidated charges
  • Discretionary charges such as overseas trips.

Duration 

The Creativity and Design Scholarship holders are expected to complete their secondary education at BGS.

Special conditions

The Creativity and Design Scholarship holders are expected to:

  • Maintain a high standard of academic effort
  • Contribute positively and enthusiastically to School life. Progress and contribution to School life are reviewed annually.

A Scholarship may be withdrawn if the Headmaster is not satisfied with the diligence or conduct of the holder. Failure to pay fees may also lead to withdrawal. The School reserves the right not to award any or all of the scholarships available. No boy may hold more than one scholarship.
