Medal winners
Max McKenzie (Year 10) and William Tan (Year 9) represented Team Victoria to compete in the inaugural School Sports Australia (SSA) Games 2024 in the Gold Coast. In the past, the SSA Swimming Championships have been a stand alone national schools competition involving only swimmers.
In a new format this year, in preparation for the Brisbane Olympics in 2032, SSA have organised a week long SSA Games, a ‘mini Olympics’ involving more than 2,000 athletes representing the 8 States and Territories in Swimming, Hockey, Netball, AFL, Basketball and Softball.
Max and William thoroughly enjoyed being part of a contingent of 311 athletes (including more than 120 swimmers) from regional and metropolitan schools in Victoria.
They competed in individual and relay events, with William winning a Bronze medal in the 100m Freestyle with a PB of 54.98 sec and Max also winning bronze with his relay team.
Congratulations boys and just keep swimming!
